Essential Functions and Responsibilities

The Accounting Assistant II will process miscellaneous accounting duties, filing and support. Ideal candidate skills

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Review tenant activity in Boston Post and ResMan for accuracy. *

2. Post rent corrections or adjustments as needed in Boston Post and ResMan. *

3. Prepare & post various journal entries. *

4. Reconcile bank accounts. *

5. Reconcile several general ledger detail accounts *

6. Provide support to Community Managers *

7. Assist with posting Payroll journal entries * 

8. Accounts payable functions to include coding and entering invoices and setting up checks 

9. Communicate via telephone and email with property managers and vendors as needed 

10. Coordinate with community managers and accounts payable to determine cash balance 

11. Complete 1099 forms per IRS regulations *

12. Complete personal property tax returns *

13. Assist with obtaining, processing, and recording real property tax statements for payment. *

14. Prepare and file WBar Reports. *

15. Assist with filing Unclaimed Property Reports *

16. Assist with preparing OHCS Reports *

17. Assist with gathering of annual audit documents *

18. Assist with RD year-end reporting *

19. Assist with various projects within the accounting department. *

20. Prepare various mailings within the department. 

21. Scan various documents into accounting software. *

22. Assist with the completion of various reports *

23. Assist with entering budgets into accounting software as needed. 

24. Performs other duties as assigned. *

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and one to three (1-3) years related experience. Associate degree or higher preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to understand Debits and Credits. SAGE and ResMan experience a plus.  Excel experience preferred.

 

Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

 

Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations
Valid Driver’s License

 

Other Qualifications
Ability to operate basic office equipment such as telephones, typewriters, 10 key, photocopier, and fax machine.
